Snow Day 2008

Yesterday we had a really exciting event at our house...SNOW. It rarely snows in the desert so it was a very exciting day. Most of the kids here have not seen snow, school was really crazy for the kids because all the kids could think about is SNOW. By the time the kids were able to play outside in the snow it was dark, but they didn't care. It was so much fun.

Griffin even made a snowman using a cucumber for the nose, raisins for the eyes and mouth, and made freakishly small arms with tootsie pops. The dogs devoured the poor snowman, the really loved the tootsie pops.

Our House the next morning!! We were so suprised to see that the snow actually stuck. And to make it more exciting.. NO SCHOOL, we actually got a snow day!!!

THANKSGIVING 2008

Thanksgiving With Cousins

This year we had the best Thanksgiving with our cousins, all 16 of them. I have been slacking on posting the pictures so here is a shortened version of the trip.
These girls were inseperable, they had so much fun. They played house, and dolls, and anything that was girlie. At one point they pretended that thier parents died and they had to take care of themselves.

Beautiful girls

Aunt Wendy opened The Big Bear Beauty Salon for Mountain Makeovers. We all got haircuts and Rock Star Toes.

The boy cousins played video games, laser tag and anything that made a lot of noise.

Andi and Brooke were the helpers. They were not always really excited about keeping track of everyone, but they were so helpful. Thanks girls!

Sammie Style

No, it is not "Dress Like a Freak Day" This is Sammie Style. To get this look for cheap, all you need to do is make sure all your prints and colors clash painfully. Then put on your cutest smile, and you are sure to turn heads. No, really she LIKES this. I am really worried about her. I guess this is a good way to keep the boys away! My mom said that I dressed just like her. I do not believe it, but I promise to post proof of it later if I ever find any. A few years ago when Sammie first started talking she was unhappy with the outfit that I had put on her on Sunday. She Shouted at me "Mommy, You don't know style". I guess I don't.

Our Pets

The kids wanted me to post pictures of our pets. They are really great!
The Yellow Lab Vanilla, was our first. She is so gentle and very loyal. She still loves to chew anything she can get her teeth on. Her favorite person would have to be my dad he spoils her rotten. Her second favorite is Griffin, she loves to play ball with him. She actually belongs to Griffin.
The black dog is Sammie's dog Frodo. He is really funny. He is Terrified of most things but tries to put on a tough guy front. You can see from the picture he is scared to death of Jason, who took the picture. He is pretty great at keeping the birds out of the garden, too bad he and Vanilla like to eat the tomatoes, cantaloupe, and pomegranates in the garden. He is so chicken, we took him for a walk in the desert one day and took off his leash, he took one whiff of something on the bushes and ran all the way home. He has never left the yard since.

Then there is Franklin, The baby. He is the coolest cat ever. He loves to be where ever you are. Jason has even been caught being nice to him. Last week when Sammie was sick he kept her company. Dennis, you are not allowed to be mean to him! My mom wants to take him to her house to live. Jason really loves me because he got me this cat, and he puts up with it too!

Halloween

Say Cheese! We had a really fun Halloween. We did miss going Trick or Treating with our cousins but this year we went with some of our friends instead. Around here houses are spread apart and you drive from house to house. It was really fun. We sat in the back of a SUV with the hatch up and popped out to Trick or Treat. The kids were so excited.

Sammie had been sick all week with an ugly cough and was under doctor's orders to stay home. What do doctor's know any ways? She was feeling better and you can't miss Halloween!

Trunk or Treat

We had a blast at the ward Trunk-or-Treat!!! Sammie was Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She even had ruby red slippers, and they were sparkly. We had to spend an hour getting her pony tails to curl just like Dorothy. I had two curling irons. one for me and the other for Griffin to hold, It was a group effort. I made the mistake of letting her watch the movie, and she wanted her costume to be exactly the same as Dorothy. I think it turned out pretty cute. Grandma Sue gave her the perfect basket, and Toto, in our case was actually a Bernese Mountain dog but it was the closest we could get. Just make sure you tell her it really looked like Toto. We had to really do some convincing with that one.

Griffin was an escaped convict. His costume was so easy. We tried to show him more elaborate costumes but he really loved this one. Should I be worried? He brought along his good friend Michael. Michael and Griffin have been practically inseparable since his first day of school last April. It is nice to know that he has such a good boy for a friend. Michael never knew his Father, because he died while Michael was a baby. It is a sad story and believe it or not kids make fun of him for not having a dad. My sweet Griffin is so kind to him and defends him. It is so sweet. Now the kid would live at our house and play water balloons and wrestle with Jason and Griffin, but his mom really likes him and wants him home. Go figure.

OKAY, now back to Halloween stuff. This is my nephew Zerin. Isn't he the cutest pirate ever! I got to watch him a few days ago, and now we are best friends. He actually cried when he had to go home. That made my day. I love all my nieces and nephews, I try hard to get them to turn to my side!!! Although there are a few that run away when Aunt Janna comes. No names....but the first name starts with TYLER and the last name "S." Watch out... Thanksgiving is coming and he will not escape me.
